Many People Qualify for an Arizona Medical Marijuana Card!
Many people think that in order to qualify for a medical marijuana card in Arizona, you must have one of only eight diseases. That is a myth! You do not have to have a disease at all to qualify for medical marijuana.
However, if you have been diagnosed with any of the following (and it is your current diagnosis), you will qualify for medical marijuana about 99% of the time: cancer, glaucoma, AIDS or HIV, hepatitis C, ALS, Chrohn’s Disease, or Agitation of Alzheimer’s disease.
However, there are literally thousands of conditions which would allow you to qualify for an Arizona medical marijuana card.
Arizona law is fairly broad when defining which patients qualify for medical marijuana. The law states that you qualify for medical marijuana if you are suffering with “a chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition or the treatment for a chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition” that causes certain conditions, such as chronic pain.
For example, although Sickle Cell Anemia is not listed as one of the eight “automatically qualifying,” diseases, Sickle Cell often causes great pain, and most patients with Sickle Cell would qualify for medical marijuana under the “chronic pain rule.”
Also, a treatment that causes great pain or nausea, for example, also qualifies. If you were perfectly healthy internally, but you were going through painful physical therapy to recover from a car accident, you would likely qualify for medical marijuana, even though “being in a car accident” in and of itself isn’t a qualifying condition, the painful physical therapy would be.
